Grinder - Yassa... the taste of bliss - Ukuva iAfrica
An enchantment of West African spice flavour... the taste of food bliss!
Salt, coriander, cinnamon, garlic, green peppercorn, ginger, thyme: together they weave an extraordinary flavour spell that becomes part of your basic comfort food memories...
In West Africa they make an onion Yassa sauce. There are as many recipes for Yassa Onion Sauce as there are cooks in West Africa... This one is delicious, beyond deliciousness!
ONION YASSA: Roughly chop 3 brown onions and 5 cloves of garlic. Place in a roasting pan with 100ml peanut oil. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon over the vegetables and grind 2 tsp Yassa over the top. Roast until the onions are very soft - (take care not to burn the garlic!) Blend with a fork and serve with roast chicken.
Also great on fish and lamb. Excellent on roast root vegetables, butternut or pumpkin - or in a brown and wild rice dish with lentils, cashews and onions.
Feb 2019 - we asked our agents and distributors and re-sellers to let us know which blend was their personal favourite - and Yassa came in at No2 - right beside Moroccan, with Swahili at No1!
Mar 2019 - Yassa has a brand new 'look' that properly reflects the flavour inside: energetic and invigorating and comforting and satisfying... truly flavour bliss!
Nice to know: 2,5% of the sales price of this product is paid to the Fair Trade Trust that pays the school fees of more or less 200 children per year - every year since 2003...
